Get ready for a breathtaking hike along the Seven Sisters, one of the South Downs’ most dramatic coastal landscapes! Students will explore chalk cliffs, rolling hills, and sweeping views over the English Channel, all while enjoying the fresh sea air. The cliffs have even featured in films such as Atonement and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, giving you a chance to walk in the footsteps of movie magic. Along the route, you’ll spot diverse wildlife, from grazing sheep to coastal birds, adding a special touch to the adventure.
While the scenery is stunning, it’s important to stay on marked paths — the cliffs are constantly changing, and cliff edges can be unstable. This hike also provides a perfect opportunity to practice your English, as you chat with friends, follow directions, and share observations along the way. Whether you’re an experienced walker or new to hiking, the Seven Sisters trail offers fresh air, exercise, and unforgettable views, along with a chance to reflect on the raw power and beauty of nature.
Important Notes: that this "half day" trip is 6-7 hours so is more suitable for a weekend day or from April-September when the days are light for longer.
Also note that the Seven Sisters cliffs have no safety barriers and the cliffs themselves are unstable. Students must be told not to go closer that 6M to the edge of the cliffs.
Comfortable sports clothes and trainers. The walk is about 2.5hrs
Water bottle. There there's only one shop at Seven Sisters and it is pricey!
Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
Rain jacket (if the weather looks uncertain)
Lots of energy and a positive attitude!
