We want to match you with the best homestay host possible. To help us do this please make sure we have the following information
1) Allergies
Animals/pets: please be as specific as possible. Cats and dog hair have different allergenic properties and many people are NOT allergies to both (or to "all pets"!)
Dust allergies: the very majority of English houses have carpets in most rooms, an almost always in bedrooms. Students who have dust allergies should bring antihistamines.
Food allergies: please tell us if you have an problem with types of food. We speak about "intolerances" and "allergies". For allergies to nuts please tell us how serious this is adn if you need to be in a nut free environment or just to avoid eating nuts directly.
2) Medical Information
This covers both physical and psychological conditions. Please communicate this to us.
We will ask questions and seek additional information if we have any concerns about the student/leaders capacity to participate in lessons/activities or stay with a host family as a result.
3) Dietary
Please tell us not only if you do not eat something but also if they follow a specific named diet as a result so we can inform the host clearly and simply e.g. no meat = vegetarian.
We charge a supplement for “Special Diets” that we pass on to the host. This is to cover the costs of any specific foods required to meet dietary requirements, and to compensate the host for any extra care and time needing to be taken when storing/preparing food.
CES charges a dietary supplement for vegans and those with exclusive diets such as an allergy to lactose , gluten, and nuts. We do not offer Halal and Kosher diets, but no-pork can be offered without a supplement. We do not charge a supplement for vegetarians.
Please note that the late or non-declaration of any of the above information may mean we cannot fulfil requests or result in additional costs.
Please note that we have a limited number of hosts who have triple or quadruple rooms available, so if a high number of these are requested we may have to ask you to replan the groupings.
All groups are placed with 2-4 students per host family unless a specific agreement has been made.
It is CES policy not to allow mixed gender pairing/groupings in homestay for any students under the age of 18.
